THE HEALING POWER OF MUSIC

OUR MUSIC THERAPY SESSIONS

Music therapy can improve your health, and it’s fun!

Music therapists use popular songs to help us sing along, and play instruments that set the beat. See our Calendar to find out when the sessions are happening.

Taking part in the music stimulates brain activity, which helps us remember the song and the lyrics, and play the rhythm. This challenges and strengthens our neural pathways.

Music therapy also benefits stroke survivors by:

  • enhancing motor functions, such as walking and arm movement;
  • improving cognitive functions, such as attention and memory;
  • aiding speech recovery; and
  • improving dysphagia (swallowing problems).

And, of course, music is fun and relaxing, which enhances our emotional well-being!
